Kevin W. Cranford Sr. ’81, M.Ed., Springfield College

Kevin, a successful children’s services consultant for Connecticut’s Department of Children and Families, takes satisfaction in knowing that his work helps protect troubled youth in out-of-state treatment facilities. “I look at programs from a quality perspective,” he says. “I want to make sure that a place is clean, safe, and nurturing.”

This All-American athlete in the triple jump says, “I really enjoyed that aspect of Central, and I maintain contact with the track team and coaches.” He serves on the Alumni Association Board and dives willingly into volunteer activities. For example, he has assisted the summer Educational Opportunity Program, which helped prepare him academically for the college experience.

Kevin makes it a habit “to give back a little something” to Central each year. “I hope that other young people, especially African American and Latino men, will find a place like Central,” he says. “CCSU is where I grew up, where I learned about myself and about life in general. The people and the atmosphere there made me want to keep close ties.”

Your gift as a graduate of CCSU has special meaning. Please give back to Central today. Thank you!
